On February 19, 2014, Catherine Althaus presented her 2013 Circumnavigation Research
results at Hardin Hall on the Northwestern campus in Evanston.

This was the first time to have a joint meeting with Northwestern staff and students to share the research
& travel experiences of our Foundation Scholar. Catherine's family and friends were well represented.
Hardin Hall with its high ceiling and large screen was an ideal venue for this presentation using Prezi.

On June 7, 2014, we had an outing to historic Pullman. After gathering at the visitor center, we had a talk by architect Mike Shymanski, President of AIA. He then led a tour thru the village which is still an active neighborhood. We returned to the visitor center for lunch, a film, and a self tour of the exhibits. To cap off the educational adventure, we visited the factory administration building. Pullman is a state historic site.

On August 2, 2014, we had our annual fundraiser for the Circumnavigators Foundation. Our hosts this year were Dan and Melanie Peterson at their lovely home in Glenview. Our members enjoyed good company and wonderful weather. They also raised much of the needed funds for a Northwestern University student to make a circumnavigation while doing important research. See the Scholars page for information on all of the scholars sponsored by our chapter.

On September 23rd, 2014, we had an outstanding view of Lake Michigan from the Chicago Yacht Club. Our speaker, Jim Peck, is the Big Ten Network Executive Producer and Director of University Photography and Videography at Michigan State University. His topic was "Telling Your Story from the Road using Words, Video and Photos." Some of his video on illegal sales of human organs in Bangledesh was eye-opening. Don Parrish introduced a special guest, Harry Mitsidis, the founder of new travel website, TheBestTravelled.com. Harry mentioned how impressed he was with Chicago.

On October 4, 2014, the adventure began as chapter members and friends started on a bus tour of Southwest Michigan wineries. Touring on a small bus and ignoring a bit of rain the group paused between wine tastings for a few group photos. Back in St. Joseph, Michigan, there was a dinner at Players Bar & Grille in a private room with Curator Mollie Kruck from the Heritage Museum and Cultural Center. Cheers!
